Explore new resources from the LCI
Looking for inspiration and ideas about how to integrate your faith with your discipline and engage with your university? LCI staff have curated several suites of resources developed by Catalysts or used in our science and theology training. Explore a new online resource library and e-course, and learn about two new books coming soon.
LCI resource library
Through their LCI-funded projects, Catalysts have led more than 150 events, published 14 e-books, 13 videos, nine podcasts and five academic journal articles. Now, we are sharing many of their materials in our new online resource library.
“The materials are highly diverse, ranging from quick personal testimonies of lessons learned to the kind of manual you could spend a semester walking through with your campus community,” says Stephen Ney, LCI Curriculum Manager, who curated and launched the library. “Catalysts created these resources in response to local needs and questions, so each resource may not be relevant to every context, but we hope they will inspire others to create resources tailored to their own contexts.”
The library contains more than 20 items so far with more being added soon. Many of them are available in French, Spanish and English. It also contains a catalogue of some of the key published texts that Catalysts studied as part of their LCI training.
E-course launched: Gems from the Logos and Cosmos Initiative
We’ve selected some of the best texts and videos used in our training of Catalysts and made them available in a short e-course. Science and Theology Dialogue in IFES Contexts: Gems from the Logos and Cosmos Initiative is now available in English on the IFES e-learning website.
“All the resources featured are doorways into deeper reflection on how theology and the sciences could – and do – work together for the flourishing of the world that God loves,” explains Stephen Ney. “The course is not a definitive introduction to science and theology dialogue, but it provides a glimpse of the LCI’s training.”
The course is self-paced with no moderation or assessment, but it is recommended to complete it within two months. To register, email engagingtheuni@ifesworld.org. Those already registered with IFES e-learning can start the course on this webpage. For details of other courses available, visit IFES’ e-learning website or the Engaging the University website.
Two books of collected essays coming soon
Our Catalysts have written about their journeys of transformation at the LCI in two books of collected essays. Each book includes more than 20 reflections and will be published by an IFES-affiliated publisher.
The Francophone Africa book is titled: A Listening Ear to the University: The Journeys of the Catalysts of the Logos and Cosmos Initiative in Francophone Africa. The print edition was launched earlier in August at the IFES regional PANAF conference. Contact Presses Bibliques Africaines (PBA) to order a print edition (available in French). Check back on the PBA website for further details about electronic copies which will be available later this year.
The Latin American publication is titled: Science and Theology for Human Flourishing: Lessons and Perspectives on the Dialogue between Science and Theology in Latin America. It focuses on three areas: missiological considerations, social sciences as a means of transformation, and natural sciences in dialogue with the theology of creation. It will be published in Spanish as a free e-book later this year. Keep a check on the Andamio website for further details coming soon.
