{"id":15,"date":"2020-05-07T08:14:36","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T07:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifes-ministries.local.versantus.co.uk\/?page_id=15"},"modified":"2026-05-19T14:25:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T13:25:23","slug":"home","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lci.ifesworld.org\/en\/","title":{"rendered":"The Logos and Cosmos Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Logos and Cosmos Initiative (LCI) equips young Christian academics to lead <a href=\"https:\/\/lci.ifesworld.org\/en\/projects-sparking-curiosity-and-wonder-about-theology-and-the-sciences\/\">projects<\/a> in their universities that spark curiosity and wonder about God\u2019s Word and God\u2019s world, and about theology and the sciences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From 2020 \u2013 2025 (August), the LCI was funded by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.templeton.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John Templeton Foundation<\/a>\u00a0and was active in Latin America and Francophone Africa. In\u00a02026,\u00a0the LCI has continued in those regions\u00a0under IFES regional leadership, and there is an active LCI\u00a0program\u00a0in East Asia as well, thanks to a generous grant from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eclasproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Equipping\u00a0Christian\u00a0Leadership in an\u00a0Age of\u00a0Science (ECLAS)<\/a>.\u00a0An LCI program is also being planned to start soon in South Asia.\u00a0If you would like to help sustain the future of the LCI and help IFES continue equipping Christian scholars, please give\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ifesworld.org\/en\/give\/?switch_language=en&amp;source=INTFR&amp;destination=IN000_PENG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The LCI provides training, mentoring and funding for our participants, known as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/lci.ifesworld.org\/en\/catalysts\/\">Catalysts<\/a>\u201d, to lead theology and the sciences projects in collaboration with their IFES national movements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of our Catalysts\u2019 projects draw together theological and scientific perspectives to address challenges such as mental health, injustice, poverty and climate change. Meanwhile, other LCI projects promote dialogue between theology and the sciences, or provide mentoring and training to help students engage with their universities and academic disciplines. IFES\u2019 global vision to impact all of society for the glory of Christ, which is summarized under IFES\u2019 goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/ifesworld.org\/en\/university\/\">Engaging the University<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>(ETU).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block block-core-quote\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block block-core-paragraph\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cSince the Logos and Cosmos Initiative was launched in 2020, its participants have shown the global IFES family new ways of being incarnational in our Christian witness in the university. The program has been catalytic, mobilising Christian students and faculty to speak about and apply their Christian faith and their academic discipline to key issues facing their countries. This is just one example of how IFES national movements are living out our vision to impact the university, church and society for the glory of Christ.\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div
